Questions & answers
What's the fastest way to get dinner?
Create → Just hungry: pick how many minutes and how easy, then tap Dinner. With My Kitchen on, it cooks from what you have.
How do I get recipes that fit my diet?
Set Your goals & diet once (on Create or in Preferences). Every home recipe follows it: protein, calories, allergies, health needs and diets.
How do I take the tour again?
Open the Guide (in the menu) and pick a tour. You can skip at any step.
How long does a recipe take?
Usually 1 to 3 minutes: it's written, checked and costed before you see it. You can move around the site meanwhile; it saves itself and a note in the corner says when it's ready.
How do I change a recipe?
Open it and refine it: quick buttons (healthier, restaurant quality, cheaper…) or your own words. Every version is kept and you can go back to any of them.
Can I ask questions about a recipe?
Yes. Open a saved recipe and use Ask about this recipe: "Can I make this ahead?", "Swap the honey for maple?" Each version keeps its own conversation. If an answer changes the recipe, Save as new version makes it for real (it uses 1 recipe). 5 questions a month free and on Base, 60 on Premium, 150 on Business and Founding Kitchen.
Does it really learn what I like?
Yes. The one-minute taste quiz (in Preferences) tells it who you cook for and the cuisines and flavors you like. Then tap "How was it?" after cooking. Loved dishes nudge new recipes from Create, Just hungry and the planner toward those flavors, and "Not again" ones are steered clear of. Rather it didn't? Turn off "Use my tastes for new recipes" in Preferences. Your goals & diet apply to every home recipe either way. Separately, "Use my anonymized activity to improve recipes" (also in Preferences) decides whether your ratings and "I made this" answers help improve recipes for everyone.
Can I use a recipe I already have?
Yes: Create → Import my recipe. Paste it or snap a photo (handwriting is fine), check what we read, and save it.
Can I import a recipe from a TikTok, Instagram Reel or YouTube video?
Yes: Create → Import my recipe → From a video, and paste the link. We read the video's text (its description when YouTube shares it, otherwise the caption you paste or a screenshot), not the video itself. Amounts or temperatures the text didn't give are marked "Estimated by AI" so you can check them, and the recipe links back to the creator.
Can it make food for my dog?
Treats, yes: Create → For dogs. Every treat is checked against a list of foods unsafe for dogs, and sized for your dog's weight. Full dog meals aren't offered: a complete daily diet needs more checks than treats do. Treats only, not a complete diet; check with your vet if your dog has health issues.
What if a recipe fails?
A recipe that can't be finished doesn't count toward your month (up to 10 a month). Just try again.
How does My Kitchen know what I have?
From photos of your fridge, pantry or grocery receipts, your shopping list checkmarks, what you cook, and your answers to "Check your kitchen". Fresh food fades over the days it usually keeps.
What if I don't want to cook from what I have?
Turn off "Use My Kitchen for recipes" on My Kitchen, or the "Use what I have at home" switch on any quick meal. Recipes come out as usual until you switch it back on.
Are my photos stored?
No. Fridge, pantry and receipt photos are read once to find the food and then thrown away; only the list you approve is saved.
What does "Use soon" mean?
Fresh food past about half the time it usually keeps. Quick meals and the planner use it first so it doesn't go to waste.
Does planning use up my recipes?
Planning saved recipes is free. New recipes made for the plan use your monthly count.
Where's my shopping list?
Meal Plan → Shopping list. It adds up the whole week; ticking items off teaches My Kitchen what you bought.
How do I get recipes costed with my real prices?
Scan supplier invoices in Receipt to Real Cost (Premium and up). Recipes then use your price list first, AI estimates only for anything not on it.
How do I know if my menu is priced right?
Run a Menu Audit from a photo of your menu. Each item shows its food cost, the math and a fair price for your area; underpriced ones come with fixes.
What are weekly specials?
Three new specials every week on Business and Founding Kitchen: in season, costed, and fitted to About your business. They arrive by email on the day you choose, and don't count toward your recipes.
What does "About your business" do?
It's what every business recipe and special follows: your shop, menu, equipment, customers and rules. Keep it current and recipes fit your kitchen.
What do I get free?
3 free recipes to try everything, including the business tools, plus 3 kitchen photo scans a month.
What are the plans?
Base $12.99/month (30 recipes), Premium $19.99/month (50, plus full costing and invoice scans), Business $79/month (150, plus every business tool and weekly specials). New recipes, imports and refinements each use one.
Can I cancel?
Yes, any time from Billing. Your plan runs to the end of the period you paid for.
How do I delete my account or get help?
Go to Preferences, scroll to Your account and choose Delete my account. It deletes everything you've made and ends any paid plan straight away. If you run a café on Salt N Bean, or need anything else, email hello@saltnbean.com.
